Responsibilities

SUMMARY OF POSITION

The Senior Quality Manager is responsible for leading the development, implementation, and execution of APP?s global quality strategy with the goal of continuous improvement towards zero defects. This includes internal and external quality, supplier quality, and quality systems. This position reports to the APP General Manager.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Responsible for the development, implementation and execution of the global quality strategy, including internal and external quality, supplier quality and quality systems.
  • Plans and institutes inspection strategies, methods and procedures which address FMEA analysis.
  • Directly manages the U.S. Quality department including providing work direction, scheduling, performance management and development to the Quality team, managing and administering the department operating budget and driving overall continuous improvement within the department.
  • Provides oversight and direction to the Quality organization at the China manufacturing location to ensure harmonization on key quality processes and procedures.
  • Interfaces with customers and vendors on quality problems and assist in the resolving of these problems.
  • Responsible for organizing, maintaining and reporting quality data.
  • Responsible for facilitating MRB activities.
  • Investigates and advises on areas of cost, procedural, process and product efficiencies to help initiate continuous improvement.
  • Leads the investigation and resolution of customer complaints as they pertain to product and procedures.
  • Experience with, and leads a structured root cause and corrective action process.
  • Leads, develops and conducts training sessions to keep all associates informed on procedures and methods as they pertain to equipment and other quality assurance techniques.
  • Responsible for continuous educational process in Quality Assurance in order to be up to date on new and changing technology in the QA field.
  • Provides work direction and auditing of manufacturing and warehouse personnel as required to execute the quality program.
  • Support Engineering, Manufacturing, Product Management, Customer Service to meet customer needs and expectations.
  • Maintain Safety procedures and compliance in Quality Assurance areas.
  • Participate as a member of a Project Team and/or Cross Functional Team as required.
  • Perform other related duties as required.
  • Qualifications

    POSITION REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor?s degree in a relevant field and seven or more years of quality management experience within a high volume commercial manufacturing environment (or) an equivalent combination of education and experience required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in the development of global quality systems within an engineering/manufacturing environment and their implementation required.
  • Advanced knowledge and experience in quality assurance, control and management; lean manufacturing tools/processes.
  • Extensive experience managing an ISO 9001 program required.
  • In depth knowledge of SPC and other statistical tools related to quality control.
  • Experience with plastic molding strongly preferred.
  • Experience with ERP or other business systems required.
  • Must have the knowledge to understand the OSHA and other international, federal and state regulations.
  • Ability to successfully navigate a matrix organization and to influence and get things done through others without direct authority.
  • International, multi-site experience required. Experience with Asia-based manufacturing operations and supply bases highly preferred.
  • Extensive experience in the development of global, ?customer-focused? quality systems.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem solving skills.
  • Demonstrated learning agility ? able to quickly learn from experiences and apply them to new situations, quickly adopts new knowledge and skills and applies them effectively, creates an environment of continuous learning and improvement.
  • Effectively leads change initiatives. Has the ability to lead engage and lead others through change.
  • Must be able to travel domestically and internationally up to 25%.
