Summary:

The quality manager will lead quality initiatives through the application of continuous improvement processes, root cause analysis, statistical process control techniques, product inspections, quality system audits, and other quality programs and tools. They will initiate quality policy and implement quality programs and enhancements through their teams and throughout manufacturing, to build quality in to the product in every area and to assure product meets acceptable quality standards

Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must meet expectations of each essential duty. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and abilities required.

Education
  • Degree in engineering, business or a science-related field is required

  • Experience:
  • 5+ years quality management experience, along with experience managing direct reports

  • 7 years minimum experience in a quality function relating to metalworking and metal finishing

  • Preference will be given to those with experience in statistical process control, root cause analysis and quality system programs and audits.

  • Extensive personal computer skills are required. Must be able to program spreadsheets, create graphs and develop statistical information regarding product quality and process capability.

  • Job Duties & Requirements (included but not limited to the following):
  • Plan, lead, initiate, direct and validate quality programs and initiatives for long term quality improvement, and product stability

  • Demonstrate the ability to manage strategic direction and also be 'hands on' when tasks require

  • Manage, control and sustain high levels of quality performance

  • Continuously strive to achieve world-class metrics

  • Manage product quality inspection process

  • Manage process quality audit activities

  • Formulates and maintains quality control objectives, and coordinates objectives with production procedures in cooperation with other managers to maximize quality and reliability and to minimize costs.

  • Manages, through intermediate personnel, workers engaged in activities to ensure continuous control over materials, services, and products.

  • Develops and implements methods and procedures for monitoring work activities.

  • Plans, promotes, and organizes training activities related to quality and reliability.

  • Analyzes and resolves work problems, or assists employees in solving work problems.

  • May investigate customer complaints regarding quality and make appropriate adjustments

  • Direct the work of quality engineers and work together with all functions within the company to achieve quality improvements, and sustainable results

  • Implement quality-operating procedures and work instructions where required, and as is deemed beneficial to the quality of our products

  • Implement statistical process control procedures where applicable and beneficial

  • Manage gauge control functions

  • Participate in vendor certification process

  • Required to have the ability to lead people in a manner that supports company success and individual development

  • Willing to work in a fast paced, intense environment, with the ability to complete assignments with a sense of urgency

  • Must be willing to be accountable for the quality of work performed by others

  • Must be able to manage projects, set goals, and be driven to see them through to completion

  • Must demonstrate initiative and innovation

  • Must be willing to travel as required, supporting internal quality programs, as well as visiting both suppliers and customers to address issues and/or initiatives for continuous quality improvement
